Today’s video:
Here’s our current thoughts on snowfall accumulations tonight through Wednesday night…areas in dark blue to purple have the best risk at seeing 2-4″ with locally 3-6″+ possible mainly in NE SD, SE ND, and the northern third of MN. Given the cold air being drawn into this system, reduced visibility, snowfall rates exceeding 1″/hr and slippery roadways will be possible here:
Total precipitation guidance over the next 2-3 days is below…obviously we are concerned with the heavy rainfall potential especially across eastern South Dakota and the southern half of Minnesota with a focus on today into Wednesday. A base of 0.5-1.5″ is expected, locally higher of 1-3″ is very much on the table across southern to eastern MN given the impressive low level jet stream that’ll be in place. Another factor to consider in these areas is strong wind gusts possible being pulled down to the surface in this timeframe…gusts up to 30-35mph+ out of the NW will be possible especially across the eastern Dakotas into Minnesota:
Here’s your city charts looking at temp trends over the next 7-10 days across the Region…we agree that overall the next week features temps well below normal for the Region:
High temp guidance into late week is below…the unseasonably cold temps continue:
Overnight low temp guidance reflect the big-time cold air being draw in mid to late week…widespread 20s to low 30s are likely the next 3 nights especially:
Dew point guidance into late week shows the overall very dry air in place here:
Wind guidance is pretty impressive especially across the eastern half of the forecast area over the next 3 days:
