Good Wednesday Morning!
Current radar is below…starting to see reports of heavy, wet snow starting to mix in especially from Aurora, DeKalb to near Ottawa…with still a heavy wintry mix working in near Joliet and rain into Chicago Heights. Actual downtown Chicago is still reporting a current temp of 34-35ºF and a northeast warm off the Lake, which has cooled some but still remains quite a bit above freezing. Also, latest report in downtown still reflect mostly rain vs snow across O’hare to Midway:
Favored simulated radar guidance is below…seeing a changeover to all between the hours of 8-9amCT for Chicago South locations:
Favored remaining additional snowfall is also below…showing that closest to the lakeshore no accumulation is still anticipated. From Midway to O’hare we anticipate still a wintry mix to settle in, but also think it will be difficult in these areas to accumulate much of any of this on the pavement. For locations from Aurora to DeKalb to Ottawa we favor a slushy mix of 1-3″ (especially on grassy/elevated surfaces)…but here again, also think some of this can get eaten by surfaces temps above freezing and mixing in with rain at times. Locations towards Oak Lawn to Chicago Heights, very similar to the Chicago metro area…times of slushy mix likely over the next 2-3 hours, but minimal accumulations on pavement:
