10-30-19 Tovar Chicago N: (4AM CT) Watching for slushy snow accum. in southern areas of our zone through 8am. N.

Good Wednesday Morning!

We are currently seeing snow as the predominant precipitation type over the western portion of Cook county and points west.  Areas along the lakeshore are predominantly rain.  Temperatures are all in the mid 30s.  The main area to watch for heavier bouts of snow will be in the circled area here, as we progress through 8am CT.  This remains generally just south of the Chicago North zones.

Analyzing the radar closer, we see areas across Sheridan to Mendota to Princeton areas are all snow, with the western half of Cook county generally falling as snow now.

Forecast radar through 9am CT shows the snow increasing across Dekalb, Kane, and Cook county areas through 7am, then a gradual decreasing trend.

Here’s how snow totals stack up through 8am this morning….we’ll watch the southern areas like Dekalb, Kane, and Cook counties (west half of the county) for slushy 0.50-1″ on the grass….and brief heavy enough rates for patchy slush on some parking lots.  In general though, it will not be able to stick.  The greater concerns will reside over the Chicago South zone (due to heavier precipitation).  Temperatures will remain above freezing, but in our far southeast coverage area could get down to 33º for a time under heavier snow showers.
