10-23-18 Northern Plains: Quiet weather continues today before light rain chances pick up tomorrow. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone! A quiet and cold morning for most of the area to start the day with perhaps some very patchy drizzle in NE Minnesota.

Temperatures warm up into the 50s and 60s in the Western Dakotas today before a warm front starts to work in overnight and leads to an increasing risk of rain showers and warmer temperatures to close out the week:

Rain increase tomorrow morning following some scattered showers especially in SW North Dakota overnight. Light rain likely initially breaks out in Southern South Dakota and slowly pushes north and east throughout the day. A low-level jet tomorrow night will aid in more moderate rainfall from SW Minnesota into Central and Eastern Minnesota:

We’ll likely see some linger showers and drizzle into Thursday with a reinforcing system starts to work south on Friday. Here’s a look at rainfall through Friday morning:

This system likely brings some additional light rain light Friday and into Saturday morning especially for Minnesota:

We’ll have another wave late Saturday and into Sunday but this looks to be scattered and light and should move out by Sunday afternoon/evening:

Here’s a look at 7-day rainfall totals. Note, rain may be a tad overdone in NE Minnesota but general amounts of 0.25 – 0.75 from SE SD into NE MN are likely with isolated higher totals. The model may also be a tad overdone in Central ND.
