10-16-18 Northern Plains: Quiet pattern persists… watching few scattered precipitation chances through the end of the week. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone. Another quiet morning across the area with no precipitation on the radar. Cannot rule out a few flurries in far NE Minnesota especially later in the day as the cold front continues to push south.

Another wave likely works in late this afternoon and evening. Scattered snow showers will be possible in the Northern third of Minnesota with a few areas picking up perhaps a quick dusting, but generally not expecting much in the way of accumulation.

A warm front will really push in for tomorrow and lead to warmth in the Dakotas and a cold Minnesota. It fully pushes through the area by Thursday leading to widespread 60s, sunny skies and high pressure throughout the area. Here’s a look at temperatures and fronts throughout the next 4 days:

Note, another cold front will push in on Friday. This could lead to perhaps a few scattered rain showers especially in South and East Minnesota – potentially in Eastern South Dakota on Thursday night and Friday morning likely working out near mid-day. We’ll also see waves of energy behind the front that could lead to a light rain/snow mix Friday night and Saturday for Northern and Northeast Minnesota.

The precipitation will once again be battling dry air and rainfall or snowfall totals will likely be light with the best chances in far NE Minnesota. With no system on the table into next week, the 7 day rainfall totals reflect the late week system and tonight’s snow showers. As you can see, amounts will be very light with the majority staying dry:
