Today’s video:
Total observed snowfall depth from this latest round of snow…we definitely overachieved in parts of eastern North Dakota and northern Minnesota with some spots seeing over 12″+. The cold air wrapping into this system combined with the intense upwards motion really helped boost totals north and east. We’ll still see some snow flurries and the isolated risk of some freezing drizzle in NE Minnesota today.
Overall the weather today will remain quiet across the region, some weak rain/snow showers possible across western/southern SD are possible late tonight. We think it’s important to note possible freezing fog in the area circled in red for Friday morning, given the heavy snowpack and southerly wind forecast and temps at or below freezing…something to consider when planning your operations for Friday:
Next wave of snow showers looks to work in across especially the eastern half North Dakota into northern Minnesota Saturday evening into Sunday as the low pressure system wraps in on the backside:
Total precipitation through Sunday is below:
Wind forecast over the next 4 days…winds are definitely on the rise Saturday and Sunday out ahead of our next frontal boundary:
This will offer up our next blast of cold air from Canada as well behind the front…temp anomalies this weekend into early next week are below from the European model indicating at 10-20º+ below normal:
High temp guidance over the next 10 days is below…we definitely see cold air linger into next week, but we do also anticipate temps to be on the rise especially after the 16th of October:
Here’s those high temps illustrated below over the next 4 days:
Overnight low temp guidance over the next 4 mornings:
Dew point temp guidance heading into the weekend:
We’ll see some very gusty winds on Saturday with the next cold front with winds up to 35 MPH:
