Current weather hazards continue to show a widespread swath of winter weather advisories regarding the snow still falling this morning:
Here’s the latest simulated radar guidance regarding the evolution of the snowfall as it slowly moves north and east across the eastern Dakotas and northern Minnesota today. Very heavy snow continues across northeast SD, eastern ND into northern MN with reduced visibility, slippery roadways and snowfall rates of 1″/hr+ at times expected. Most precipitation should depart SD by 5-6pm, and wind down across eastern ND and Northern MN around midnight or shortly there after. A few snow showers may linger on and off across northern MN tomorrow given some energy and cold air aloft:

Our weather stays generally quiet into tomorrow…a weak wave of rain/snow showers will be possible across western and southern SD late Thursday night into Friday is possible, but we will be battling dry air aloft (hence the “weak” mention):
European total precipitation through 5 days is below…the bulk this comes today into tonight, the western Dakotas seeing little to no moisture, areas east seeing ~0.5-1.5″:
Wind forecast over the next 4 days is below…overall we do have wind risks here into the weekend especially Saturday ahead of the next front:
High temp guidance into early weekend is below…the cold air persisting…a little bit of “warmer” air works in southern MN and SE SD into Saturday:
Overnight lows show the reinforcing shots of cold air well into the weekend here with widespread periods of at or below freezing for many of us:
