Wednesday will be a very mild day ahead of a storm system working into the area Wednesday night and Thursday. A storm system will move into the area Wednesday night and Thursday, bringing a threat for snow mainly over the western half of Kansas, then the front will push east through the day on Thursday.
Portions of northwest Kansas should receive a few inches of snowfall Wednesday night through early Thursday:
Need to keep a very close eye on Missouri Friday for the potential of a winter storm. A secondary wave of low pressure will ride northeast along the front bringing the potential of significant wintry precipitation across southeast Missouri.
A swath of significant wintry precipitation is possible from portions of the mid-Mississippi Valley through the Ohio Valley Friday and Saturday. Check out the snowfall forecast off the European model:
Ensemble members of the European model still show some variability in placement, but increasing confidence of potential significant wintry weather late Thursday into early Saturday. Think rather significant icing would be possible before a transition to snow.
