No precip worries as we go through the day today and early THU AM. Sim radar from Noon CT THU evening through Sunday morning- please watch the video for the latest thoughts. This system looks to be mainly focused in the eastern half of the state, leaving the Des Moines/ Ankeny areas on the western edge of some potential light snow. Right now the best chances to see any accumulating snow would come late Friday evening and into very early Sat AM:
This forecast is by no means set in stone as there are a lot of factors influencing the track and intensity of our low pressure system. To illustrate the uncertainty that still exists, shown below is where 50 different models place the center of the low Sat afternoon. Such a spread in the location of the low is why we have such model variability when it comes to wintry accumulation:
