1-7-18 Ohio: Light snow works east this AM…freezing rain/snow works in tonight into Mon AM commute causing travel issues. K.

Today’s video (7 min):

Updated winter weather advisories through Monday to cover the risks for light accumulating snowfall and light freezing rain causing travel issues into the Monday morning commute:

Updated official accumulation map…around the I-70 corridor could certainly pose a big travel risk getting into Monday morning as both freezing rain and accumulating snowfall will be likely, with pavement temps consistently below freezing. Winds will be gusting to 25-30mph so anything that sticks to trees/powerlines could cause some power outages as well:

Simulated radar here…light snowfall will work in across the I-70 corridor and points north this morning exiting east into early this afternoon. Expecting the main wave of freezing rain to cross the IN/OH border by 8-9pmEST consistently working east by 7amEST. We do expect the precipitation type to transition back to all snow by 4-7amEST from west to east…expected to work out of the state east ~noon Monday afternoon. It’s VERY important to note subsurface temps will remain below freezing so whatever precipitation type that falls will freeze on contact making things very slick:
