1-5-18 Iowa/Nebraska Forecast: Light wintry mix Sat. night/Sunday…milder temps early next week! N.

Video:

Dry weather expected today through most of Saturday.  As an arctic high moves off to our east tomorrow, a southerly wind will kick in allowing for temperatures to warm through the weekend.  Portions of the region will have the threat for a wintry mix (freezing drizzle, sleet, snow) Saturday night and Sunday.  Kind of a “splotchy” precipitation pattern across the area, with the heavier precipitation over Missouri.  Watch out for slick travel in parts of the region Saturday night, and especially Sunday across Iowa.

Certainly some encouraging news for those sick of the brutal cold…one more “brutal” morning in Iowa Saturday morning, then a much milder pattern Sunday into the middle of next week!

Dry weather expected Monday and Tuesday, then we see changes for the middle of the week.  A storm system looks to move across the region, and this storm will bring down sharply cooler air for late week.  There is potential for a swath of accumulating snow across the area, but still trying to pin down the placement/strength of this storm.  Definitely keep tabs on the forecast for the mid-week time-frame.
