1-4-18 Northern INDOT District Forecast – lake effect snow continues…update on accumulations. K.

Synopsis: Good Thursday morning! Waking up to continued lake effect snowfall this morning, in today’s video we time everything out through Saturday late morning/early afternoon as a lot is dependent on the direction of the wind who gets snow and how much; we’ve included an updated snowfall map below and in the video with very little changes. A winter storm warning has been hoisted across LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties as well through Friday morning, could see it extended further into Friday night/Saturday morning but do believe the heaviest of the snow will be falling here. Winds shift to the southwest late Saturday morning which will finally shut off the lake effect snow, but right on its heals is our next wintry weather event late Sunday night into Monday…confidence is higher we see better chances of snow in the northern districts versus further south but the timing and accumulations still need to be fine-tuned…keep it on your radar at the very least. If you have any questions, please let us know…have a blessed day! -Kirk

Updated winter weather advisories/warnings:

Updated accumulating snowfall forecast through Saturday evening…again, this is a conglomerate so not all at once but periods of reduced visibility <0.5miles and lake effect bands exceeding 1″/hr rates will be possible with slick spots where left untreated.

Continuing to eye late Sunday night into Monday for a mixed bag of precipitation from a winter storm moving into the state…specifics discussed in the video but this event still needs some fine-tuning with this…but our forecast models are starting to come into better agreement here:
