1-31-19 Indiana Forecast: Accumulating snow arrives tonight….big warm-up for the weekend. N.

Video:

Snow will work into northwest and north-central Indiana between 6-9pm, then spread south/east with time through the late evening and overnight.  Snow looks to spread into the Indy metro between 10/11pm.  Snow will fall steadiest and heaviest from 11pm to 4am, then diminish from west to east by the morning rush hour.

We now include the Indy metro in 2-4″ of snowfall, given slight south shifts in the data.  Still expecting localized 4-5″ totals within the 2-4″ band just northeast of Indy.  We’ll bring the 1-2″ through the northern half of Monroe county, then the totals taper off fast as you head south.  Snow will be fluffy with temps between 15-20º in most areas as it falls.

Regional snowfall forecast:

Concerned about light freezing rain across southwest Indiana from mainly 4-10am Friday.

The video discusses more on the temperatures as we progress through this system, and more on the spring-like air by Sunday!  Before we get there, we are watching Saturday morning for a patchy freezing drizzle risk.
