Good Wednesday morning! Looking at snowfall reports over the past 12 hours, eastern portions of Minnesota picked up 1-3″ of snow earlier this morning.
In a nutshell, our pattern over the next week will feature multiple clipper systems and reinforcing bouts of cold across the northern Plains. Today, we have a reinforcing round of arctic air that will work its way southward into the region. Pieces of energy moving through combined with the incoming arctic air will squeeze out areas of snow showers this afternoon into tonight.
We think a swath of 1-3″ of snow is possible from North Dakota to southern Minnesota. The models are likely underdone on snow amounts.
We catch a break on Thursday with an arctic high overhead. We get back into the clipper train on Friday with a couple disturbances moving through from Friday through early Sunday:
Current guidance shows several inches of snow across the area by Sunday. The area should catch another brief break for Sunday before more disturbances arrive next week!
