Good Wednesday morning! Windy and milder day ahead with highs well into the 40s with 50s south. Wind gusts to 35mph possible. An approaching front will trigger some showers over north-central areas by late afternoon and overnight. This may mix with a few snow showers tonight. Additional rain/snow showers possible across southern Illinois Thursday, but many areas see very little moisture with this front and no impacts are anticipated.
Here is a look at our temperature trends from noon today through 6am Friday (in 3-hour increments). Enjoy the milder day today as true arctic air spills into the state Thursday afternoon and night!
Sunny but cold on Friday, then we track chances for snow Saturday and Sunday. More details discussed in the video. Still uncertainty in the amounts of snow as the temperatures/amounts of moisture remain a bit uncertain. 1-3″ event looks possible from this distance.
The weekend is just the beginning of a busy pattern next week. We look to catch a break Sunday night/Monday before more snow arrives Monday night into Tuesday. Nearly every day next week will have a chance for snow, we will have to fine-tune the timing and amounts as we get closer.
