1-3-20 Michigan: Discussing snow chances through tomorrow. MG.

Michigan update:

Preferred simulated radar guidance from 9 PM ET through 1 AM ET Sunday.  Some flurries will be possible during the overnight through tomorrow afternoon.

Here is a look at temperatures during this same time frame.  Note that temperatures will largely remain at / above freezing.  We will also be coming from warmer temperatures during the day today, leading to some warmer pavement temperatures.  The net result is that much of the snow will struggle to stick onto pavement.  Grassy/ elevated accumulations will be the main threat.

Here is a look at modeled snowfall accumulation.  It is important to note that this will be confined mainly to grassy and elevated surfaces.  Some isolated slick spots may occur where temperatures can become colder and in sheltered areas.  It may be worth monitoring/ treating surfaces in 0 tolerance lots to account for this risk.

We will also see some breezy conditions develop Saturday afternoon with wind gust of 25 – 30 mph possible, especially along the lake shore locations.  Winds will generally be from the northwest around 5 – 10 mph sustained tonight into the early morning hours of tomorrow before winds pick up into the afternoon with sustained winds from the northwest around 10 – 15 mph.  Here is a look at the wind gust potential around 3 PM ET tomorrow.

Another wave of precipitation will be possible into Sunday afternoon/ evening, but due to warmer surface temperatures, no impacts are anticipated for southern Michigan.  Any impacts look to stay confined in areas across far northern MI near Cadillac.  Here is a look at a snapshot of simulated radar around 4 PM ET on Sunday.  Please watch video for details.
