1-3-18 Northern INDOT District Update – First wave of snow working in this AM…accumulating lake effect snow to follow into Sat. K.

Synopsis: Good Wednesday morning! We have our first bout of snow showers working in from west to east early this morning with our lake effect snow machine starting to gear up later this afternoon into the evening through Saturday. In today’s video we pinpoint a localized view of where the lake effect is forecasted to set-up as well as an updated snowfall accumulation map seen below. It’s important to note that not all of this comes at once but is a conglomerate over 4 days (into Saturday morning). Times of reduced visibility of less that 0.5 miles and heavy bands of 1-2″ snowfall rates/hr will be possible at times as well. We continue to target a lake weekend/early next week winter storm to move into the Ohio Valley…latest data indicates a mixed bag of precipitation will be possible as well, confidence is low on the exact details but we need to have this closely on our radar. If you have any questions please let us know, have a blessed day! -Kirk

Just through ~4pmEST this afternoon I think ~0.25-0.5″ generally will be possible as this first wave of snow showers works east as we’ve been discussing:

Updated snowfall map into Saturday morning…we discuss accumulation timing in the video, it’ll be a conglomerate over 84 hours which is key to remember but we do think double-digit snowfall will be possible across northern LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties locally:
