A couple weak disturbances will bring flurries and a few snow showers across the state this afternoon through early Wednesday, with an emphasis in southern Illinois.
Total accumulation through Wednesday morning: Generally scattered coatings of snow, but wouldn’t rule out local 1″ totals south of I-70.
Check out the forecast wind chills from 8pm this evening to 11am Thursday: Downright dangerous wind chills reaching -50º+ across northern Illinois Wednesday morning, with Thursday morning still featuring over -30º around Chicago!! Wednesday will be the most extreme day regarding the cold. Please limit any venturing outside, and bundle up all exposed skin! Have a winter supply kit if you need to travel with blankets, flash lights, and jumper cables!
We are watching a system Thursday PM into Friday morning diving northwest to southeast which will bring the risk of some snow accumulation.
Right now we favor the northern half of the state for the highest risk. Current data showing a 2-3″ band, with locally higher totals.
