Good Friday Morning! Red flag warnings still in effect for parts of southwestern Kansas today and wind advisories in effect for parts of southeastern Kansas and southwest Missouri. Scattered rain showers already working in across parts of Missouri this morning and will continue across Missouri, Iowa, and eastern Nebraska today as a cold front moves through. Temps cool off to start next week but warm up briefly as high pressure works into the region. In the video we discuss the system mid next week. Still seeing red flag warning across parts of southwest Kansas until 6 pm CT tonight as winds gust up to 35 mph, temps reach 50+, and relative humidity stays low. A wind advisory is also in effect for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri until 6 pm CT tonight with winds potentially gusting up to 45 mph throughout the day:

Scattered rain showers are already working east through Missouri this morning and will continue throughout the day today and spread across Iowa as warm moist air is pulled north. Western Nebraska may see some snow showers this morning before temps get above freezing and these showers switch over to rain for the eastern half of the state. These showers will clear out across most of the region overnight tonight with some lingering showers possible in southeast Missouri in the morning hours Saturday. Northeast Iowa may see some snow showers Saturday night into Sunday. Additional snow showers may also be possible across the region Sunday through early Monday:

Temperatures fall off behind these rain showers with high temps averaging 5-10 degrees cooler than Friday. More cool air starts working in Saturday night into Sunday with highs Sunday and Monday afternoon continuing to trend cooler as we start next week:

Looking ahead to mid next week we will see a brief warmup as high pressure works into the region pulling warmer up from the south. We’re continuing to monitor a system expected to move through the region Wednesday into Thursday that could bring some wintry precipitation to the area. We’ll continue to monitor and update throughout the weekend and into next week to fine tune our forecast:
