In today’s video we touch on the dense fog advisories across parts of the Dakotas and Minnesota and the potential for them to linger around into the late morning & early afternoon. We also see the risk for some freezing drizzle into the early afternoon due to low-level saturation in the atmosphere. We discuss a cold front moving through the area tonight into the weekend and the possibility of an inch or two of snowfall. Current weather advisories showing parts of the eastern Dakotas and western Minnesota under a dense fog advisory until 9 am CT today. With strong south winds pulling more warm air into the region and temps in the teens and twenties, there’s the possibility this fog could linger around into the afternoon with clouds staying in the area for most of the day. With temps getting above freezing in parts of eastern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota and the warm air advection, there’s the possibility of some freezing drizzle later in the day as the atmosphere becomes more saturated. Expect visibility to be reduced down to a mile or less in these areas:

As shown below with low-level saturation, there will the be the potential for this fog to linger into the afternoon and some freezing drizzle to form:

With a cold front moving through the area tonight into Friday morning we can expect to see the potential for some scattered snow showers putting down an inch or two as we move through the weekend:
