1-24-20 Indy DPW: Latest thinking on precip type/temps heading into the weekend.V.

Good Friday morning! Below is the latest forecast update:

Current radar + temps- We are watching scattered showers working across downtown Indy with temps in the upper 30s:

Sim radar from 8 AM ET through 8 PM ET tonight with each frame being one hour. Scattered showers will be on and off as we have the dry slot of our system working in as mentioned in the video:

Temps during this same time. Highs today will likely reach the upper 40s across downtown:

Sim radar from 9 PM ET Friday night to 1 PM ET Saturday afternoon. Note that as we work later into the early morning hours of Saturday we will have to watch for the *potential* of some snow showers mixing in with rain showers across Central IN but are not expected to accumulate on pavement given temps:

Sim temps during that same time. Temps are going to be everything with precip type in this forecast because actual temps being a degree or two off vs modeled temps could have a major impact on precip type. Shown below is the favored temps, but we definitely encourage checking the PM update for any temp changes as we get closer to Sat AM:

Sim radar from 1 PM ET Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. As discussed in the video, it is certainly possible to see some snow showers work in with a few rain showers, but temps do not look to fall below freezing. Temps during the day today in the upper 40s will help keep pavement warmer as well:

Latest favored snowfall on elevated surfaces out through 1 PM ET Saturday afternoon- details in the video:

Winds throughout the day today:

Temp charts over the next 10 days look to stay above the normal highs and lows for this time of year (red and blue lines):
