1-23-20 Indy DPW: Latest thinking on precip type/timing out through our Friday.V.

Good Thursday Afternoon! Below is your latest forecast update:

Current check on radar across the state:

Sim radar from 4 PM ET tonight to 7 AM ET tomorrow morning. Each frame is one hour. As we’ve mentioned, we are expecting precip type to stay as all rain:

Sim temps through that same time, again each frame is one hour. Through Friday morning we are not expecting any wintry weather issues given temps well above freezing:

As mentioned in the video, we are watching this system pulling in drier air that we think is really going to limit the amount of precip accumulation that will come with this system vs what is modeled. Shown below is current satellite . Note the red/yellows (drier air) being filtered into the low:

Sim radar from 8 AM CT Friday morning through 9 PM ET Friday night. Temps will simply be too warm to get wintry weather:

Sim temps from 8 AM ET Friday morning through 9 PM ET Friday night:

Below is sim radar from Midnight ET Friday night into Midnight ET Saturday night. As discussed in the video, we think that a few snow flakes are possible, but given the temps shown below for the day Saturday, it is going to be really tough to get pavement accumulation. Also, the fact that we  are looking at temps 40-50 degrees over the next few days will help pavement temps stay warmer slightly longer than actual air temps:

Temps on Saturday- note temps staying above the freezing mark:
