1-18-20 Chicago South (5AM): Main wave of precipitation pushing east, keeping an eye on scattered snow shower chances into tomorrow. B.

Current Temperatures/Radar. Precipitation will be tapering off in the Chicago area within the next hour:

Simulated radar the next 6 hours. As we work into the mid-morning hours a wave of backside snow ahead of the cold front will begin to push into the area. Temperatures at this time will be a few degrees above freezing so treated areas will likely be ok, but untreated and elevated surfaces could see a quick coating of snow in the more moderate bursts of snow especially the further north you go.

Temperatures will continue to gradually rise this morning (next 6 hours shown), but following the passage of the cold front they will sharply drop this afternoon (~34-36F around 2PM and falling into the mid-20s by 5PM). Winds will also pick up late this morning with gusts of 30-40 MPH through the afternoon and into tonight.

Additional risks of some scattered snow showers and flurries are possible this afternoon and through the evening hours given a wave of upper-level energy. Energy will hang around into the late morning hours tomorrow with the risk for some light snow showers/flurries and perhaps an additional coating of snow.

Temperatures by Midnight tonight:
