Good evening!
Here is a look at the current temperatures as of 7:45 PM. The Indianapolis airport has been reporting a temperature of 32 F since 7:10 PM.
Here is a look at the current radar as of 8:07 PM. Some sleet is being reporting around the Indy metro area.
Here is a look at simulated radar from 9 PM through 5 AM tomorrow morning. We may continue to see mixed precipitation that should transition more towards a liquid around the 1 AM timeframe. One thing we are watching closely- while guidance shows a decent swath of wintry mix- which does look likely- we think it will be difficult to get major ice accumulation as precip will be coming down hard enough to really limit the ability of things to freeze, along with decent sustained winds that will help limit this accumulation. With that said, slick spots are still certainly possible/likely with temps hovering around freezing.
Here is a look at temperatures from 8 PM to 8 AM tomorrow morning. Temperatures will continue to hover around the 32 F mark throughout the overnight. From 3 AM and beyond, we really begin to increase the temperatures, essentially eliminating any slick spot concerns.
Here is a look at a 4 panel of simulated radar from 9 PM tonight through 3 AM.
Here is a look at a 4-panel of the from 9 PM through 3 AM in the morning. Notice the temperatures by 3 AM reaching around the 33 F – 34 F mark. The model shown above may be slightly too cold during this time frame. It still looks like 3 AM when we can transition just to a “cold rain.” The forecast from earlier looks to be staying on track regarding this.
