Video:
Wind chill advisories and warnings in effect all across the area this morning for wind chills 20 to 30 below zero. Just a brutal day ahead…bundle up if you venture out!
Impressive snowfall amounts have been reported across extreme southeast Missouri thanks to an arctic front that nearly stalled here for 6-12 hours. This allowed bands of snow to track over the same areas time and time again, with the highest report out of Mississippi county Missouri of 12″!!
Scattered flurries are common across Iowa this morning, and an additional dusting of snow possible in spots. Snow showers here should wind down through the day.
Very quiet weather over the next several days with a warming trend…more details on temps in the video. Still watching a potent storm for the weekend that will track across the area. Increasing signals that areas across Nebraska/northwest Iowa may be in line for the “snowy” portion of this storm, while other areas just get rain. This may once again be a case where most of Kansas doesn’t get a lot of moisture due to the system developing overhead. Folks across Nebraska and portions of Iowa need to be aware that accumulating snow is looking more likely for the weekend, but far too early to discuss amounts. Missouri looks to only see rain.
7-day precipitation: Right now the heaviest amounts of precipitation look to fall across Nebraska and Iowa with the weekend storm. Parts of south central Kansas may not see any moisture! Think eastern Missouri could see a decent round of rain as well as the front moves through Sunday.
Weeks 1 and 2 outlooks. The video also takes a look at new data heading into February!
