1-10-20 MI PM: Latest on heavy rain and wintry potential. MG.

MI PM:

We are still dealing with model inconsistency this PM as model continue to shift run to run in regards to wintry potential.  What has been fairly consistent is the signal for heavy rain across MI.  Here is a look at the current hazards across the county.  We still have a flood watch across southern counties with a winter storm warning across much of the western half of MI and an ice storm warning near Flint.

Here is a look at simulated radar from 9 PM ET through 1 AM ET Sunday.

Here is a look at preferred rainfall amounts through 1 AM Sunday.  Widespread 2″ – 3″ will be possible with iso high amounts.

Here is a look at preferred modeled snowfall amounts.  Keep in mind that this is a forecast with many moving parts and lower confidence due to a lack of consistency with some of the short range models.

Potential freezing rain accumulations through 1 AM Monday.  The values shown may be too high (please do not take verbatim) but still a strong signal for accumulating freezing rain closer to Flint.  Areas closer to Lansing could still see accumulating freezing rain that can impact travel.  Fine tuning will have to be done going forward.
