Good Thursday morning everyone! We’re continuing to keep a very close eye on a winter storm that will ramp up tomorrow and lead to a swath of accumulating snow through parts of Kansas and Nebraska with heavy snow possible in Southern Iowa and much of Missouri. The St. Louis area could see 8-12″ of snow when all is said and done.
Winds do not look to be a huge issue with this storm system generally ranging from 5-20 MPH:
Temperatures will hover near freezing for most who see the snow threat with cooler temperatures into Iowa:
Here’s a look at the simulated radar throughout the duration of the event. Precipitation will begin to break out early tomorrow with rain initially in portions of Kansas and even SW Missouri. However, as we work into the afternoon and evening hours, the initial rain will begin to changeover to snow in Western Kansas and Missouri with more widespread snow for Kansas, SE Nebraska, Southern Iowa and Missouri overnight Friday. Snow continues throughout much of Saturday before it starts to wind down in Nebraska and Kansas Saturday afternoon/evening and in Iowa Saturday night/Sunday morning with the risk of linger snow showers/flurries in Missouri on Sunday.
Here’s a look at city charts for Wichita, Jefferson City, Des Moines and Grand Island for the next 10 days:
