We are very excited to announce that BAM Weather will be hosting a 5K Run on June 2, 2024 in Franklin, IN and we want to invite you to participate!
We have teamed up with the Adalynn Strong Chapter of the Cure Starts Now to help raise money and awareness for pediatric brain cancer. BAM’s goal is to raise more than $30,000 through the event for this cause.
The Adalynn Strong chapter of the Cure Starts Now was started in memory of Adalynn Jessen who was diagnosed in 2020 with a rare inoperable brain tumor.
“After Addie passed away, she donated her brain to research to continue the fight for a cure,” Kate Jessen said. “Since starting her chapter we’ve been able to raise over $170,000 for pediatric cancer research! The Cure Starts Now represents something truly different – a grassroots effort dedicated to, not just fighting one cancer, but the elimination of ALL cancers.”
The Run for the Sun 5K will be a part of the ongoing fight against pediatric cancer.
“Pediatric cancer isn’t stopping, and neither are we,” Kate said. “Addie fought for us participating in clinical trials and studies to help the outcome for future diagnosed children, and this is why we continue fighting for her!” 
Over the years, BAM Weather has made it a mission to support the Cure Starts Now and their efforts into researching pediatric brain cancer. BAM Weather has been blessed to build an entire wall of custom painted/drawn hearts that had been auctioned to raise money for The Cure Starts Now.
“When I met Adalynn and the Jessen’s several years ago, there was just an instant connection I felt with them,” co-Founder and CEO of BAM Weather Michael Clark said. “I knew what they were battling was horrific and I knew I was going to do everything I could do personally to help them battle it. Over the years we’ve become close friends. Little Addie has brought several people together with her battle of DIPG.”
Hosting the Run for the Sun 5K is the next step for BAM to give back to this important cause and support Adalynn Strong and the Jessen’s.
“The 5k is going to be huge, and all of the money is going to this foundation to fight this unforgiving disease,” Clark said. “No child or parent should ever have to deal with this. Together, with the Adalynn Strong Chapter, we will continue to fight back against childhood cancer. I hope this 5k is busting at the seams and I hope to be standing at the finish line handing this organization a very large check.”

The Run for the Sun 5K will be held in Franklin, IN, beginning at the DriveHubler.com Amphitheater and then wind through the Greenway Trail along Young’s Creek. Registration for this event will begin at 8:30 AM ET with runners taking off from the start line at approximately 9:30 AM ET. Participants can register to run the 5K or choose to walk 1 mile on the course.
Numerous local businesses will be on site meeting with runners and providing goody bags and samples. A water truck will be available on site to ensure runners stay hydrated throughout the event. BAM Weather’s meteorologists will be providing forecast support for the event.
For those that can’t participate in the run/walk, additional activities, including raffle baskets, will be available on site.
