GREENWOOD, IN – BAM Weather (BAMWX.com) announced today that they will be providing weather data and forecasts to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The Cannon Ballers are the minor league, Single A baseball affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. BAM Weather will provide weather data, forecasting, and support for the Cannon Ballers operations to assist with imperative, weather-related decisions.
Weather is a crucial part of professional sporting events and safety planning for athletic venues across the country. The Cannon Ballers will utilize BAM’s 24/7, live meteorological consultation to aid in critical daily weather-related decisions.
“So far, it’s been great,” said Tim Siegel Head Groundskeeper for the Cannon Ballers. “It has helped us these last two days with weather and the biggest thing is just being able to talk to somebody. All the radars show the same in terms of what they are doing but when there’s a storm right on top of you and it’s not raining, and they are telling you it’s actually a few miles away, that’s the difference between chatting with someone and just using a radar.”
Tim and other officials for the Cannon Ballers will have exclusive access to BAM Weather’s state-of-the-art Weather Porthole platform. The platform will provide detailed weather data on both an hourly and daily basis using the country’s most accurate, hi-res conglomeration of computer models.
“One cell that was coming through, where normally we are just watching basic radar without having any communication – we would’ve had the tarp down with both radars showing the cell clipping us with a lot of rain, but being able to communicate with somebody made all the difference,” Tim said. “They told us that it would mainly miss and be very light rain. We put all our eggs in that basket, and it was right.”
