Good Thursday morning!
Synopsis: Rather quiet forecast for today for surface high pressure building into the region. A frontal system will bring the risk for some storms for the first half of the weekend. Heat ramps up early next week. T’storm risks will be on the increase during the middle and latter portions of next week which will help knock down the heat.
Latest satellite picture indicates some clouds still rotating into the region from a low pressure system moving east into the Great Lakes.
A cool and dry air mass continues to settle into the region. Here is a look at temperatures this morning. Many areas in the lower 50s!
High pressure will continue to build into the area today, with increasing sunshine through the day. Note a few lingering showers off into Wisconsin – otherwise it’s a very nice day.
Heading through the weekend, a frontal boundary will drop into the late Friday through late Saturday, bringing the risk for a few thunderstorms.
There is a marginal severe risk over the northwest portions of the area Friday, then a slight risk on Saturday over eastern Minnesota and much of Wisconsin.
Here is a look at temperatures over the next 4 days. Very cool day for July over northeast Minnesota into northern Wisconsin, with heat relief across the Dakotas today. Heat starts to build across the Dakotas Friday, then spreads east into southern Minnesota on Saturday. Cooler over the eastern half of the area Sunday, with more heat building in from the west early next week.

Humidity levels will be low across the area today with a surface high building in from Canada. Higher humidity values start to creep in to the west on Friday, then spread across the area on Saturday. Note another shot of much drier air over the northern and eastern half of the region on Sunday.
