9-13-18 Northern Plains: Watching mist/drizzle risks today… discussing rain chances into the weekend. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Thursday afternoon everyone!

Rain is working out of the area, and the main risk for today will be some lingering mist/drizzle across E. ND and Western/Northern Minnesota. We could spit out some light rain showers with this at times especially building this afternoon and into the evening/overnight hours.

We could see some additional light rain/mist in southern areas tomorrow as the front sags south. Overall, most will see less than 0.1″ of rain but some isolated higher amounts can’t be ruled out where a heavier shower develops. The NAM3 may be a bit overdone but it does show the areas that can expect this mist/light rain well over the next 2 days.

The next rain chance develops Friday night and early Saturday as the frontal boundary lifts north and produces a cluster of storms, with a few strong to severe storms possible with hail the main threat right now.

As the front lifts north, we’ll increase temperatures into the mid-upper 90s Saturday and Sunday in South Dakota as well as strong southerly winds which could increase fire danger this weekend with drier air especially in SW South Dakota. Here’s a look at temperatures over the next 4 days:
