8-22-19 Missouri: Discussing continued heavy showers/storms mainly south today + weekend to early next week weather update. K.

*We apologize for the delay in sending this out as our system failed to send this morning’s forecast.  We will have an update later this afternoon with some of the newest data/ info.

Today’s video:

Observed rainfall over the past 24 hours was locally heavy south of 0.5-1.5″+:

Here’s our favored simulated radar guidance for this afternoon into Friday morning…the activity slowly shift south and east of Springfield towards Poplar Bluff and Jonesboro late tonight into early Friday AM:

Total rainfall guidance over the next 24 hours is below…still scattered in nature where we favored a base of 0.25-0.75″ south of I-70…but we do also think there will be frequent 1-2″+ reports embedded within, in this period where storms may be locally strong and slower:

There will be some scattered showers/storms possible Friday-Sunday across the state, focused moreso south / southwest vs north / northeast. Eyeing for our more widespread rainfall chances to increase along a cold front Monday evening into Tuesday morning as the GFS American model shows the best right now:

Total rainfall guidance from Friday through Tuesday is below…favoring 0.5-1.5″ from ~south of Kansas to St. Louis and points to the south as an aggregate in this period including the scattered rains Friday through Sunday and the cold front Monday into Tuesday AM…some locations across south-central Missouri can achieve 1.5-3.0″ as well:

Wind forecast guidance as we head into the weekend is below:

Maryville:

Joplin:

Columbia:

St. Louis:

Poplar Bluff:
