5-22-19 Dayton Dragons: Timing out scattered rain/storm chances today. Increasing storm risks tomorrow. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Wednesday morning everyone. We are carefully watching a line of rain in portions of Indiana that is slowly progressing eastward at this hour. We generally expect this to continue to weaken as it pushes east – but a few scattered showers could survive with a light rain chance after 11 AM into mid-day. Here’s a look at the current radar:

We’ll also need to watch for potential re-development this afternoon and evening as instability builds this afternoon. Given some dry air aloft, there is the potential for hail or gusty winds in some of these thunderstorms that develop. Here’s a look at the simulated radar into the mid-afternoon:

Here’s a look at the thunderstorm potential late afternoon and evening:

SPC Severe Weather Risk Today:

We have to watch tomorrow very carefully as energy looks to builds from west to east in the morning hours along a boundary. Given ample moisture and instability along with winds generally from west to east throughout the atmosphere – we cannot rule out training of storms leading to localized flash flooding and heavy rain in spots tomorrow.

We likely see a wave in the morning – perhaps a break in the middle of the day – and then another round of development in the afternoon and evening hours:

Some of these storms especially in the afternoon could turn severe with a pronounced amount of instability and favorable conditions for large hail.

Here’s a look at potential rainfall through tomorrow evening. 0.75 to 1.25″ is on the table with isolated higher totals not impossible:

Here’s a look at temperatures over the next week. Note, Saturday has the potential to overachieve and get into the upper-80s:
