4-5-19 Kansas/Nebraska: Widely scattered storm chance Saturday…nice Sunday! Watching mid next week! N.

Kansas/Nebraska Video:

Note: starting Monday, we will take a more digital approach with our updates meaning no texts in the forecast discussion.  However, we will still post your 10 day temperature and precipitation charts, total precipitation, and simulated radar.  This way we can focus on all the details in the video.

Dense fog advisories for eastern locations this morning:

Overall most areas will be dry and very warm today.  We’ll see a few hit and miss showers tonight (isolated thunder), then our best risk for widely scattered showers and even isolated storms will come during the afternoon and evening Saturday, as a disturbance lifts north from the southern Plains.  Pockets of hail and gusty winds can’t be ruled out with these storms.  Again, not everyone will see rain tomorrow.  Here is the forecast radar from 7pm this evening to 10am Sunday:

Total precipitation through Sunday:  Many locations will be less than a half-inch.  Something to keep in mind is that we’ll have plentiful moisture in place, so isolated locations could overachieve and see some pocketed heavier rainfall.  I would say areas from Wichita, KS to Hastings, NE to Omaha, NE will have the greater risk to get the higher totals.

Continuing to keep an eye on the middle of next week.  Data continues to bring in a potent system with lots of wind, and the possibility of producing wet snows especially across northern and western Nebraska.  This snow may even be significant, so we’ll need to really watch this time-frame.  Sharply cooler to end next week!
