4-4-19 Indiana Forecast: Additional showers work in especially late afternoon into tonight…warm weekend with showers/storms Sunday. I.

Video:

Simulated radar through 8pm EDT Friday: Overall Indianapolis will remain dry through a majority of the day, but the showers will work in from the west into the metro area around 5pm EDT. Showers situated over far northern IN slowly works ENE through the morning, then additional showers progress into the western portions of the state mainly after 2pm EDT and fill into the remainder of of IN late afternoon into the evening, continuing overnight. The bulk of the rain will exit by sunrise Friday, though there will remain the risk for a few areas of patchy drizzle into mid-morning with spotty sprinkles the rest of the day.

Total rainfall through Friday: A general 0.1-0.5″ is expected statewide with locally higher amounts possible along the Ohio River. Some areas of east-central IN can manage to come up with less than 0.1″.

Patchy fog will be a risk into Saturday morning given some lingering low-level saturation, especially the eastern portions of the state.

We are still looking at a nice Saturday with dry conditions! Definitely be sure to make outdoor plans for Saturday given high temperatures warming into the mid-upper 60s. Our attention then turns towards a system from the Central Plains that enters the state mainly after 2am EDT Saturday night, with scattered showers and storms expected into Sunday, then losing coverage Sunday night and lifting east Monday morning. Highs Sunday are looking to warm to near 70ºF or a tad higher. This system will bring 0.25-0.75″ of widespread rain with some areas picking up 1″ and isolated higher. The European model is more aggressive in the southern portions of the state (further north solution), but it is an outlier.

Rainfall totals over the next 5 days reveals 0.5-1.5″ of rain statewide with isolated higher amounts likely, especially along the Ohio River.
