4-15-19 New Orleans Baby Cakes Update: Nice weather through Wednesday. Diagnosing strong storm risks on Thursday. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Monday morning everyone! Mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s for highs with light winds for today’s forecast. Nice conditions will continue Tuesday though we will begin to warm up and clouds will begin to increase into Wednesday for the begin of the next home stretch. The main issue for upcoming games will be on Thursday as a strong system begins to push into the area. An area of rain and storms will develop on Thursday with the potential for some of these to be strong to severe. There are differences between data with the American data lingering these storms into game time on Thursday while the European gets storms out in time for the start of the game on Thursday. A clearer picture on the exact timing will come over the next day or two, but it could be a close call for Thursday evening’s game.

Here’s a look at total precipitation over the next 7 days, with Thursday having the main rain/storm risk. We’ll need to watch Friday carefully as an upper-level low pressure lingers north of the area. If it were to trend further south it could introduce more clouds/showers on Friday – though we’ll lean towards the drier solution for now.

The SPC has outlined the area for potential severe weather on Thursday:
