3-8-19: Latest details on heavy snow, strong wind gusts with winter storm tomorrow. B.

Today’s Video:

Good morning. Winter storm warnings and watches have been issued for much of the area as a potent winter storm works into the area tonight and into tomorrow:

The storm really begins to ramp up overnight tonight and will intensify throughout the day tomorrow as it tracks northeast across the area. Given the location of the low pressure system and where the system develop, the Eastern half of the region will stand the best chance for the heaviest snow:

Wind will also become a problem with the system and could gust up to 40+ MPH mainly in Southern Counties Saturday afternoon leading to blizzard conditions at times:

Snowfall rates in the heaviest band will likely achieve 1-2″/hour at times:

Given where the location of low-level frontogenesis and the low level jet is, here is our latest idea for snowfall with this system. Lowest confidence in the Western Dakotas where discrepancies remain on total snow, but we favor the lighter solutions at this time given the upper-level energy, low-level jet and track of the storm.
