3-29-19 Reds Update: Scattered rains tonight into Saturday morning…more widespread rains into Saturday PM. I.

Afternoon Video:

Good afternoon! Plenty of cloud cover remains across the region this afternoon as there is a good deal of low-level saturation hanging around. There are some peaks of sunshine in southwestern IN that will be working northeastward over the next few hours, but generally speaking it will remain cloudy through the remainder of the daylight hours. Expect cloud cover to continue into tonight as scattered pulses of upper-level energy lift in, providing scattered shower chances as well. More on this below!

Simulated radar through 2am EDT Sunday: Dry weather will remain the story through the next several hours. The boundary we have been discussing over the last couple of days will be setup northwest of the area tonight through most of Saturday and will bring the risk for scattered showers from the southwest after 8pm EDT this evening with the threat continuing overnight into Saturday morning. These won’t be widespread rains overnight and still anticipate a few periods of dry time during this timespan. However, after 9am EDT Saturday additional light to moderate rains at times from the west will be working into the ballpark (drier just south). The front from the west will be lifting in and the rains will become substantially more steady (potentially heavy at times) around 3pm EDT and after this time. Instability is still remaining rather low, especially given morning convection, but a few rumbles of thunder will remain a possibility, especially later in the day. The steadiest/heaviest rains are expected from 3-10pm EDT with the front passing through the Cincy Metro area around 6pm EDT and temperatures sharply dropping after this time. This will have implications to the ball game taking place tomorrow! The very back-end of the wave will likely end as a few light snow showers, but will lift eastward shortly after midnight.

Here’s a look at additional precipitation through Saturday night: We are still eyeing a general 1.0-1.5″ of rain through this timespan with the heaviest of the activity coming Saturday afternoon into early overnight.

Here’s a look at 1-hour precipitation and temperature charts for Cincinnati showing the heaviest of the rains lifting in during the afternoon and early evening hours.

A quick additional look ahead past Saturday night: The remainder of the games from Sunday through Wednesday won’t have any problems weather-wise. Skies will be clearing Sunday and then a mix of sun and clouds through the remainder of the duration (increased clouds Tuesday from a system staying south).
