3-28-19 Reds Forecast: Spotty showers this morning…increasing rain risks late tonight through Saturday. I.

Good Thursday morning! Definitely be sure to check out today’s video!

Shown below is the latest 7-day forecast! Good luck today for your home opener!

Simulated radar through 2pm EDT Friday: The pulse of widely scattered showers from the northwest are continuing to weaken during their approach and we can’t rule out a few isolated light rain showers/sprinkles through 12pm EDT. The rest of the afternoon is expected to remain dry, though a stray shower can’t be ruled out. Sunshine is expected to reappear for the afternoon hours with temps warming into the mid-60s, so the home opener should progress with no issues (besides breezes to 20-25mph). A more substantial risk for light rains will come after 2am EDT tonight and continue into Friday morning, becoming more scattered as the morning progresses and very isolated in nature into the afternoon.

Rainfall guidance through 2pm EDT Friday is below with less than 0.1″ of rain expected, mainly late tonight into early Friday morning. Higher amounts are most likely north of the Cincy Metro Area.

The quasi-stationary boundary will pump in additional moisture and ample rain opportunities late in the afternoon Friday through the overnight into Saturday. Scattered light rains are expected Friday night. Perhaps a few breaks in the light rain is possible very early Saturday morning, but anticipate widespread showers with a few storms (some could be gusty in nature) through the daytime hours Saturday. This will be especially true late afternoon into the evening when the heaviest of the rain will occur. We remain firm on Saturday’s first pitch to be heavily impacted by these rains with little, if any, in the way of dry time. The cold front progresses east Saturday night with cold air funneling in, so a brief mix with snow is possible before ending shortly after midnight. Sunday will dry out with very minimal impacts to Sunday’s game, then drier conditions following for early week.

Total precipitation guidance over the next week: Most guidance remains quite firm of heavier rains for the early weekend with 1-2″ of rain expected. Again, the bulk of this occurs tonight through Saturday night, but especially Saturday. Definitely expect major implications to Saturday’s game with heavier showers and a few storms expected.
