3-26-19 Northern Plains: Eyeing late week storm system, much warmer temperatures today/tomorrow. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Tuesday morning everyone. Overall a quiet start to the day with Dense Fog Advisories in effect for the Western Dakotas. Fog likely lingers into mid-day today:

Additional fog is possible overnight tonight:

Temperatures will be very warm today getting into the 60s in the Western Dakotas and Southern SD with warmth continuing tomorrow and likely leading to widespread snow melt.

Attention then turns to our system that develops late Thursday into Friday. An initial wave of a rain/snow mix is possible in the western Dakotas but this likely won’t have a huge impact. This system mainly impacts western and southern SD for accumulating snowfall risks and quickly pushes out of the area as we work into Friday night:

Here’s a look at total precipitation with that system:

Note, at the start of the system and the end we could see some scattered snow showers mainly in Northern Minnesota early Thursday and late Friday.

Here’s a look at wind gusts over the next 4 days:

Here’s a look at hourly forecasts for Devil’s Lake, Duluth, Sioux Falls and Bismarck:
