3-25-19: Rains gradually exit this afternoon….eyeing unsettled late week into next weekend. N.

Indiana Video:

Good morning, hope you all had a great weekend.  Heavy rains of 1-2″+ fell in southern Indiana overnight, with light rains around the Indy metro and north.  Slow-moving system still lingering rain south of a Lafayette to Muncie line this morning, and there won’t be much change through 10am, then we’ll notice a southward progression of the rain through the afternoon.  Rains should shut off in Indy around 1pm, then southeast Indiana by 5pm.  We end the day with sunshine.

Rough idea of additional rainfall totals today (as of 5am):

Expect a very breezy day with north-northeast winds gusting 25-30mph this afternoon.  Here is your wind forecast over the next 4 days.  Calmer Tuesday and Wednesday, then a very breezy set-up late week.

Tuesday and Wednesday look GREAT!  Cold morning lows in the 20s, but highs in the mid 40s to low 50s Tuesday, then mid to upper 50s Wednesday.   Breezy conditions will limit any widespread frost tonight, with a better set-up for frost Tuesday night.

Late week turns unsettled.  Our next chance for rain arrives Thursday morning.  Thursday still features plenty of dry time in between a few showers.  It will also be quite mild.  Rain becomes heavier/more widespread Friday through Saturday night, as a quasi-stationary frontal boundary sits overhead.  These are very common in early spring, and will bring healthy rainfall to the region.  Most of us stay on the “mild” side of the front through Saturday, then a big crash in temperatures Saturday night.  Notice the snows not far from our area in southern Wisconsin to central Michigan.

Total rain of 1″+ looks likely.  I think some will get 2″ from this late week system.  Heaviest totals may take shape in northern areas, but all dependent upon where exactly the front stalls in the Friday-Saturday time-frame.

Right now Sunday looks dry, sunny but very chilly.
