2-11-19 Northern Plains: Tracking additional accumulating snowfall throughout the week. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Monday morning everyone. Here’s a look at snowfall over the last 3 days:

Here’s a look at the current radar across the region. Note snow showers are expanding across portions of North Dakota and will continue to do so and slowly push east throughout the day. Additionally, as we work into tonight and tomorrow morning, a heavier band will develop in Eastern/Southeastern MN. Here’s a look at the simulated radar over the next 39 hours:

Here’s a look at our snowfall map over the next 2 days. Highest risk area is in Eastern Minnesota depending on exactly where the deformation band Northwest of the low pressure system sets up. The latest NAM trended just to the east, but remains relatively good in line with our forecast.

Overall, temperatures won’t be a huge deal throughout this system, but still well below freezing allowing a continued high ratio, fluffy snow event.

We could see some strong wind gusts tomorrow afternoon into tomorrow night leading to the risks of low visibilities with lingering snow showers and blowing/drifting snow risks which will allow for hazardous travel conditions to persist into the overnight hours and into Wednesday morning:

We’ll have another few waves of snow to deal with. A light wave will work across far northern counties in ND and MN on Tuesday night and Wednesday and produce some light accumulations of 1-2″ or less. A more potent waves works across the Western Dakotas and into portions of Minnesota on Thursday. Data is still quite variable with the second wave, so we’ll have to trend it as the week goes on.

Here’s a look at city charts for Minneapolis, Pierre, Bismarck and Fargo:
