12-21-18 Northern Plains: Tracking accumulating snow this weekend. B.

Today’s Video:

Good Friday morning everyone. A mix of rain, snow and freezing rain is pushing across NE Montana and into North Dakota this morning. This system will slowly push across the area today and lead to some snow accumulations in E. ND and Minnesota:

As mentioned above, this will be a slow moving system and snow can linger in the area into Sunday. The heaviest snow likely occurs into tonight, but light snow accumulations can persist in Northern Minnesota throughout tomorrow with wrap around snow showers Saturday night and into Sunday for the Eastern Dakotas and Minnesota with light accumulations (less than 1″) possible in spots.

Here’s a look at snow accumulations by 6AM tomorrow:

Here’s a look at total snowfall through Sunday:

We’ll need to watch low visibilities at times especially in the wrap around snow showers tomorrow. Regardless, strong winds are likely in the Western Dakotas after the system passes this evening and tonight:

We’ll need to watch for some light snow Christmas Eve and early Christmas as a weak wave tracks across the area. These will likely be scattered snow showers with some light accumulations for those that are lucky enough to be under one of the snow showers.

We’re still watching a very strong storm system for next week that data continues to hint of possible heavy snowfall mid-late next week.
