1-25-19 Northern Plains: Snow showers today/tomorrow in the W. Dakotas… high impact winter storm Sunday/Monday. B.

Good Friday morning everyone. We have snow showers in SW South Dakota this morning. These will build as we work throughout the day in the Western Dakotas bring light snowfall accumulations which persist throughout tomorrow. These will put down scattered light snow, but they will be very persistent over the next 36-48 hours.

Temperatures tomorrow morning will once again be brutally cold in the Northern Minnesota and Eastern ND with temperatures nearing -20F in spots once again: 

Wind chills on Sunday morning will be dangerously cold in portions of the Eastern Dakotas and into Minnesota: 

The bigger storm will develop as we work into Sunday and lead to a swath of accumulating snow across the Eastern Dakotas and into Minnesota. There is certainly the potential for a widespread swath of 6″+ of snow with an isolated 12″ not out of the question.
