Good Thursday Morning! In today’s video we touch on the clearing skies across the Ohio Valley into the weekend with temps getting up into the 40’s and 50’s ahead of this weekend’s storm. We take a look at this weekend’s storm system and beyond into next week where we’re eyeing another storm mid-week that could bring some more wintry weather to the region. Continuing to monitor some lingering snow showers across eastern Ohio that will clear out throughout the morning as winds shift from the northwest to the southwest. Expect skies to clear across the Ohio Valley as an area of high pressure starts to settle in as we head into the weekend:

A short-lived ridge moves over the area to close out the week with southerly winds pulling warmer air up into the Ohio Valley ahead of this weekend’s system. Temps will continue to rise with some parts of the region seeing 40’s today and most of the region seeing afternoon high temps tomorrow reaching into the 40’s and even 50’s. These temps will start to drop off as we have another storm system moving through the region. High temps the next four days through the weekend shown below:

We’re expecting rain showers to start across parts of western Illinois Friday night and pick up into Saturday morning. Rain showers will start crossing over into Indiana Saturday morning with the bulk of the rain moving out of Illinois Saturday afternoon and out of Indiana Saturday night into Sunday. Rain showers can be expected to start in Ohio Saturday morning and start exiting the region Sunday morning into the afternoon. There is the potential for snow showers to form behind this system for parts of Indiana and Ohio Sunday night into Monday as winds come from the northwest gusting up to 25 mph. We’re also monitoring a small clipper potentially dropping some very light snow I-70 south Sunday night into Monday:

Models are trending weaker with the precipitation totals through the weekend with most areas seeing a tenth of an inch up to a quarter of an inch:

Looking ahead to next week, another trough settles in to start next week bringing cooler temps on the backside of this weekend’s system. It’s short-lived however as a weak ridge moves in bringing another warming trend ahead of a storm system we’re monitoring next week. With a strong trough moving in behind this weak ridge, there’s the potential for wintry weather to move into the Ohio Valley next week.
