Just as a heads-up…here’s a look at our storm update schedule going from Friday through the weekend so everyone can know even at this distance when to anticipate updates. We will also be providing frequent text alerts to folks who subscribe throughout this event as well into the weekend:

Good morning!  A few flurries will continue in northern Indiana and across Ohio today, but these diminish overnight as the upper-level energy works off to the east.

A winter storm watch has been issued across portions of Illinois for heavy snow potential Friday evening through Saturday night.  This is the area where confidence is higher for the highest totals.  Watch for winter weather alerts to be expanded east over the next 24 hours.

Here’s a look at the latest European model precipitation type guidance from Friday night through Sunday morning…this will be a slow moving wave of snow. The heaviest bands of snow likely push through eastern Missouri into central Illinois to far western Indiana based on temps and speed of this wave as it moves east. Biggest risks right now to this event is how quickly this wave can move from west to east (things can speed up), do we work in any dry slot or warmer temps to the south and is there a quicker energy transfer off to the east coast which could limit heavier totals further east across Indiana into Ohio:

You’ll want to watch the entirety of the videos for full updates on timing and risks of the snow accumulation this weekend…but here is our first snowfall map for Friday night through Sunday:
