*UPDATE* New European Trends Drier. Quick Tout Here. M. The latest European model just wrapped up running and the key obvious take away here is how much drier the run overall is, but also how much wetter it is in areas that just cannot take anymore rain right now. Some of the areas that are cooling off in the days ahead are also areas that have very little in the way of top soil moisture to work with. The cool down is great but it needs to start raining in some of these areas soon esp. MO, parts of IL,…

Word to the wise. Model errors floating around on Twitter are WAY TOO COLD. M. The very cold EPS model runs you're seeing on social media were programmed wrong with a MASSIVE error in climo. The ECMWF climo system the model was using had a large bug and an email has been sent to ECMWF. We have worked with Ryan Maue from weathermodels.com to get this issue fixed and we have gotten it all taken care of. This is WHY our official outlooks have never been that cold to begin with but this is something we would never give away on Twitter.…

7-13-18 Noting some drier trends in GFS op next 5 days & ridge reload trends. Quick tout. M. The GFS op has finished and one thing I felt important to point out is its continued trend towards more of a hit or miss rainfall forecast the next 5 days. It still has rainfall in the forecast but it has trended much lower and with the nature of these rains in the drier areas we need to at-least be on the lookout for bust POTENTIAL. Im not cancelling the rains I am just pointing out some trends. Below is the new…

6-28-18. *Important evening update* European VS American. My take away. M.

Agriculture, Energy
Important evening update. European VS American. My thinking. All of the research we have done leading up to this heat wave over the last 4 weeks tells me the GFS has no idea what its doing with respect to this pattern over the next 15 days. The EPS continues to maintain the course closer to our forecast. I know many of you remember how the GFS rainfall beat the Euro early June but this is an entirely different beast this is a synoptic level feature and not mesoscale forecasting. The idea of a pull back is there mid month as…
