Agriculture, Daily Short Term Update
#ILwx #INwx #OHwx Monday All Zones - short term Synopsis: Lots going on in the next 48-72 hours so make sure to watch the full video for details. Fog still hanging out across the northern half of our Zones which is keeping temperatures largely at bay. Showers move from the SW to NE starting off across southern IL through the overnight to morning hours tomorrow...slight concern for slippery roadways across portions of northern IN and SW OH tomorrow morning as temps dip near or slightly below freezing. Otherwise, still eyeing system #2 to move through mid-day Wednesday into Thursday, have concerns that models are underdoing it right now which was the case on Sunday. Here's a look at the latest satellite loop across the Midwest...really can see that fog layer…

#AGwx #Energy #Winter Very cold air invades US this week. Snow chances slowly growing. M. Before I start here is our updated thoughts over the next 4 weeks. Make sure you read about the pattern beyond 12/20. Ill update weeks 3/4 Friday morning folks.  Synopsis: Long range pattern continues to look impressive VS previous Decembers no doubt about it. Cold with hidden systems in there that can suddenly produce some snow and even over achieve easily. The challenge becomes how does this pattern evolve and where are we by say Christmas? Very tough to answer that..if you ask the CFSv2 we are well above normal with a ridge over the eastern US by Christmas..right now I just really have a hard time buying into that idea but ill show it…

#ILwx #INwx #OHwx Latest detailed video update as system tracks east into Monday. AM Freezing fog? K. Synopsis: Snow begins to fade east for Illinois folks, while we still see the heavy, wet snow falling from I-70 north. Expecting all precipitation to move east out of our Zones by 10-11pmCST this evening, but we see a growing concern of freezing fog setting up in the morning hours across portions of our zones...especially where the current snowpack is located. Temperatures near the morning commute will range from 30-34° from I-70 north so slick surfaces possible, we continue to recommend checking your properties early morning especially for your no tolerance properties. Radar loop as of 6:30pmEST Forecast simulated radar from 6pm-midnight Remaining snowfall accumulations as this system continues to move off to…

#IAwx #ILwx #INwx #OHwx Sunday All Zones - Latest Update on Snow/Rain Details & Timing. K. Synopsis: All Zones update late morning as we watch this system move through eastern IA, Illinois and now entering into southern MI and Indiana. Roofs/cars/grassy areas still expected to become covered across the northern portions of our Zones as this system moves east, pavement where the heavier, wet bands of snow set up can become slushy. Still is a tricky set-up as we move into the afternoon hours, especially if you have a zero tolerance client. Temperatures from Peoria north will see temps from 32-34° so where the heavier bands of snow set up, slushy accumulations of 1-3" on pavement will be possible. Meanwhile, the axis of heavier snow looks to cross the Indiana/Illinois…

Thinking out loud this fine Saturday evening..Winter is coming. Going over all of the computer model data this evening and ill tell you what I really really like what I see from now going forward to at-least the next 16 days. Pretty much what we have been talking about the last several months is coming into play overall and rather nicely I might add. I think this is a pattern where there are several shots at accumulating snow and long lasting below normal temps. From the midwest-great lakes/Ohio valley to the interior NE snow lovers will get what they want this December I do believe. The pattern aloft is really coming along nicely.  In-fact if we glance at the long range European control from this morning there a several chances…

#AGwx #Energy A few #Winter storm threats. Very cold next week. Warmer risks late month. M. Synopsis: Week 1 departures below...we start to see an increase in winter storm potential throughout the Plains, Midwest, Ohio Valley and Interior Northeast. Also, we are tracking well above normal precipitation across the south which is good news for those folks who are experiencing moderate to severe drought conditions.    We've been talking about this storm system mid to late next week for a 2 weeks now through our various posts, we touch more on the details in the video. The concern comes with the storm track and available cold air supply when we start talking about accumulating snowfall. We have concerns from the 15th onward of the cold giving way to ridging and…

#AGwx #Energy #Winter December Outlook. Turning Sharply Colder with Snow Chances. M. Synopsis: We have officially posted our final December temp/precip outlooks on this site which we have included below. We see an active pattern over the next 2 weeks with cold and stormy...the question becomes, does the cold stick around through mid to late December? New Weeklies come out tonight as well which will be telling how we will trend going deeper into December. Overall here's a look at how we did with our November Outlooks as to temperature and precipitation anomalies. We nailed the core of the heat, just not the extent of the heat in the northern US. We missed the warmer anomalies in the NE but other than that pretty darn good. Our precip forecast vs…

Comments on data today. Winter is coming. #AGwx #Energy Good evening...have you ever seen home alone 2? I'm watching it right now what a classic (it's on Amc). Morning data was wild with signals of a true cross polar flow developing late next week and the potential at 2 wintry systems next 10 days. If talking out loud I'd say buckle up for a wild ride as I believe data could be underplaying this pattern.  Busy busy busy folks... Key is massive ridge expands into the higher latitudes from the North Pacific. This dislodges coldest air on the planet. More on this tomorrow. Euro ensemble mean shows all out winter.  First system Sunday into Monday may offer up salting potential could trend stronger too so let's keep eyes on Sun/Mon…

#AGwx #Energy #Winter - Long Range Update - Potential Ohio Valley Snow Storm Looms Synopsis: Computer models are starting to come in with increasing confidence of a stormy next couple of weeks, the details that need fine-tuning are the track, precipitation-type and amounts. The pattern is starting to transition from cool to cold...we gain support from our teleconnection indices that increases confidence in this stormy/wintry pattern into December as well.  Forecast of Teleconnections...a -EPO means we have the cold air support + we have a retreating PNA as well as an NAO which are signs that a storm looms. Latest look at the European Ensembles shows us a much colder pattern setting up in the first 2 weeks of December...GFS Ensembles have a very similar look support the cold as…

#AGwx #Energy #Winter Warm not but a MUCH COLDER pattern looms. Snow too. M. Synopsis: As we sit here and analyze the latest data one can't help but love where the pattern is going in terms of snow potential in the Midwest/Ohio valley and maybe even interior NE. The struggle or challenge with this forecast is "how long does the really cold weather hang around?" I think its a coin toss ATM and I think its heavily weighed on the pattern in the Pacific ocean and what kind of snow can be laid down over the next 2.5 weeks. As I stated yesterday I think winter is trying to show its true colors here over the next few weeks so the evolution to the pattern is key going forward. There…
