Total rainfall into Wednesday afternoon shows that areas north and west will have the highest coverage of rainfall in the short-term, with 1-2″ rain potential up there through noon Wednesday.

We’ll see a dry period late morning into the afternoon as winds crank up and temperatures soar.  Storm risks will move back into western Illinois mid to late afternoon Wednesday (3-6pm), advancing east through our evening with an isolated damaging wind threat and possibly an isolated tornado or two.   You will want to check out our update this afternoon as we’ll get a better idea of storm timing and location.  We do expect widely scattered storms to continue Thursday, heaviest focus southeast.  Here is how rain looks to stack up between now and Thursday:
