11-7-19 Tovar NW Indiana: Eyeing potential for significant lake-effect snow early next week. N.

Indiana Video:

Forecast radar from 4am to 1pm CST:

Temperatures during the same period: Can’t rule out minor grassy accumulation in LaPorte/Starke county areas this morning, but warmer flow off the lake keeps our air temperatures warmer and roadways wet.

Quiet night for most.  We’ll see a northwest wind kick off a few flurries or brief snow showers in Elkhart county, possibly into eastern St. Joseph county.  Generally, this will be flurries blowing around in the wind, but an isolated burst putting a dusting there cannot be ruled out.

Wind forecast over the next 4 days:

We need to be preparing for what could be a significant, heavy lake-effect event early next week, with data showing parts of La Porte county in 5-10″+.  Areas from St. Joseph to Porter county zone and just south are in the sweet spot right now on the data.  The snow band will likely be more narrow than the model below indicates, but shows the area at greatest risk.

Temperatures over the next 10 days:
